The Soprano Violin carries the same configuration and range as the "Violino Piccolo" produced by Amati and Stradivari. The difference is in the tonal quality. Neither of these master luthiers had the physics or acoustic resources available to them that Dr. Hutchins used. And so their small violin did not have the compatibility of tone needed to perform with a regular violin. With state-of-the-art acoustic calibration methods developed by Dr. Hutchins, the Soprano Violin does indeed emulate the sound of a regular violin. |
